The City of Sulphur
The town of Sulphur is named for the mineral that was mined here. Sulphur is referred to as "the pride of Southwest Louisiana." One of the things that it is most proud of is that it is known as the Gateway to the Creole Nature Trail. It is also home to a must stop attraction, the Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point which features interactive hands-on exhibits on the unique estuary systems along the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road as well as the food, music, history and culture of Southwest Louisiana. In Sulphur, you might also want to visit the Henning Cultural Center which features the works of local artists as well as traveling exhibits. And be sure to check out the Sulphur Cultural District and downtown area for local souvenirs and unique shopping and treats.
